About the Consulate of Sweden in San Diego
San Diego’s relationship with Sweden goes back a long way. In 1888 Norway and Sweden (then united) were among the first countries to establish and maintain a Consulate in this city. In those days a basic Consular duty was to look after a shipping interests. Today the links between Sweden and San Diego are far more comprehensive- personal, cultural, academic and high-tech.
The mission of the Consulate is to further the interests of Sweden and Swedish nationals in San Diego and Imperial Counties. We provide routine and emergency services to Swedish citizens, including the delivery of Swedish emergency passports. We provide information on Sweden and Swedish culture. We assist with business contacts.Because San Diego is a center of high-technology and biotechnology, the Consulate takes an active role in facilitating scientific investment and commercial alliances in these fields.
